User manual

Venue runs the business side of a café, bistro, fast food or bar. You, the owner, set it up; your staff use a shared tablet with their PIN.

  1. Set up your venue: a name and the country. Hungary and Romania fill in the currency and VAT rates; other countries enter their own.
  2. Build the menu: categories, then items with the price, VAT rate, where they are prepared and the 14 allergens.
  3. Add your staff with a role and a PIN of 4 to 6 digits. They need no DevQuake account; a PIN never opens the settings.
  4. Enable your tablet: open Tablets on the tablet itself and enable it. A lost one can be disabled at once.
  5. Share the menu with your guests: its address works for anyone, for example in a QR code on the tables.
  6. Add your tables under Tables and print their QR stickers. On your phone or an enabled tablet, a sticker opens the table; for guests it shows the menu.
  7. Open a bill on the table, add what is ordered with the search bar and tick off what was brought. The floor shows every table at a glance.
  8. Show the guests their bill QR: they see their order, what is still coming, the VAT, choose a tip and see the total, without an account.
  9. Finalise the bill with cash, card or other: the table is free and a new bill gets a new code. Bills are deleted after six months; the reports keep the numbers.
  10. Under Settings → Connected apps: choose your purchasing list in Shopping (the reports show what was bought next to the takings), and add recipes from your Cookbook to the menu.
  11. Open the kitchen, bar or coffee screen on a tablet: each table’s order waits there, oldest first; tap what is made, and the waiter sees it ready to bring.
  12. Give each waiter a section under Tables. Guests who scan a table’s sticker get its waiter and can tap “Call the waiter”; the waiter hears it on the floor and, with notifications on, gets it on the phone too.
  13. Under Stock, add your ingredients and drinks with a daily and a weekly level, and give menu items their recipes. Each order takes its recipe off the stock; an item is unavailable on its own when an ingredient runs short. Count daily or weekly, and send what to buy to your purchasing list.
  14. Waiters can use the Venue app on their own phone. Under Tablets, give the phone a name and show the pairing code; the app scans it once. The waiter switches in with their PIN and sees the tables, takes orders, marks what was brought, and gets a notification when a guest calls, even with the screen off. Disable a lost phone under Tablets at once.
  15. Try the demo café from the home page: a second venue with a menu, stock and recipes, tables with waiters, open and paid bills, three weeks of reports and guests calling. Switch back to your own venue at any time; deleting the demo removes it with everything in it.
  16. Guests can order from the menu on their table’s sticker (Settings → Guests order from the table). Each order waits on the floor and in the waiters’ app, with a sound and a notification; the table’s waiter confirms it (then it goes onto the bill and to the kitchen and bar, like any order) or refuses it. Items that ran out meanwhile are left out.
  17. Choose tips in the settings: off, percentages before VAT for the guest to choose (15, 20 and 25 % to start with), or a fixed tip.
